GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - For the fourth year, Comfort Keepers of Montrose and around the Western Slope has been listed among ColoradoBIZ magazine’s Top 100 Woman-Owned Companies. Comfort Keepers is owned and operated by Ora Lee who resides in Grand Junction.
This year Comfort Keepers ranked 48 among the successful businesses moving from 78 in 2016.
Creating a Career out of "Comfort"
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - One local business woman owns an award winning home care service; but the story of how she got started is what really makes the company special.
Ora Lee came to the U.S. from Israel years ago to teach Hebrew.
But her world was turned around when her husband passed away, and she moved to Grand Junction so her kids could be closer to family.
But the challenge was figuring out: what came next?
After hearing about a New Mexico branch of Comfort Keepers, a senior in-home care service, she decided to open her own franchise on the Western Slope - without any previous business experience or training.
Since then, the business has grown from it's humble origins based out of a shed in her families backyard to an award winning enterprise nominated three times for the top women owned businesses in Colorado.
Ora says it's all thanks to hard work and dedication, and a dream to provide for her family and the community.
She also says the business continues to grow and thrive, with two other offices located in south Denver and Delta.
Local Business Sends Water to Paonia
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - As the Paonia water crisis continues, a local senior care service is doing what they can to help.
Comfort Keepers, an in-home care provider, is sending cases and jugs of water to its Delta office.
Although the idea started with delivering water to clients, the company is now offering to distribute the bottles to anyone who needs it.
They say part of taking care of someone is making sure they have life's basic necessities, including access to clean water.
The cases of water were donated by Walmart, and are waiting to be handed out to those who are homebound or don't have the ability to pick up jugs and bottles themselves.
